Milestones

This year, community members will have the ability to shape and influence Silvertown’s regeneration proposals through this Commonplace website. We’ll be sharing new information, adding polls, and keeping you up to date on how your ideas have shaped Silvertown’s regeneration throughout the year. Check out the timeline below for Silvertown’s past and present milestones.
  • Master Development Agreement Announced

    Following procurement for a development partner, the Greater London Authority (GLA) entered into a Master Development Agreement with the Silvertown Partnership, whose members were Chelsfield Properties, First Base and Macquarie Capital. 
  • Outline Planning Application Submitted

    Outline planning application submitted for the Silvertown site.
  • Outline Planning Permission Granted

    Outline planning permission (OPP) granted for the Silvertown site.
  • Lendlease and Starwood Capital Acquisition

    2018

    Lendlease and Starwood Capital acquire The Silvertown Partnership and inherit the rights to develop Silvertown.
  • Phase 1 Consultation

    September 2019

    Previous community consultation and engagement for Phase 1 to lead into the Detailed Planning Application, with 500 people engaged and 400 pieces of feedback received.
  • Phase 1 Detailed Planning Application Submitted

    The Silvertown Partnership submitted a Detailed Planning Application for Phase 1 in September 2019.
  • Phase 1 Detailed Planning Application Approved

    The Reserved Matters Application (RMA) to approve the details of Silvertown's Phase 1 was granted permission in December 2019.
  • Project On-hold

    January 2022

    Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the project was put on hold and proposals were revised as the team sought to respond to the post-pandemic environment.
  • Project Re-launched

    Using the lessons learned from the pandemic, the team has been working hard on a revised master plan and designs for the site and with that, the project re-launched in January 2022.
  • Dock Infill Planning Application Submitted

    A Reserved Matters Application (RMA) was submitted in February 2022 seeking permission for works comprising the infilling of part of Pontoon Dock.
  • Newsletter Issued to 13,000 homes

    A newsletter was distributed to around 13,000 homes in the Royal Docks and Custom House area to provide more information about the Silvertown project and invite residents to our March Community Exhibitions.
  • Silvertown Community Exhibitions Launch

    On the 5th and 8th of March, we hosted two community exhibitions at Expressway London in the Royal Docks. We shared more information on the proposals for Silvertown, and received important feedback on the new hybrid masterplan and new Royal Victoria Dock Bridge proposals.
  • New Royal Victoria Dock Bridge Feedback Form Closes

    Feedback opportunities for the New Royal Victoria Dock Bridge closed in April 2022. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with most respondents strongly agreed that the new RVDB would improve accessibility (73%) and connections (66%) across the Royal Docks.
  • Design Code Workshops

    Throughout May 2022, we facilitated three workshops focusing on different areas of the Design Code for residents and the design team to work together and develop a Design Code Framework for Silvertown.
  • 2nd Newsletter Issued to 13,000+ homes

    In June, we issued a second newsletter to 13,000+ homes in the Royal Docks and Custom House to invite community members to the Silvertown Community Day and to provide a project update.
  • Silvertown Community Day

    On June 25, 2022, we hosted a Community Day on the Silvertown site to show our latest proposals for Silvertown’s New Hybrid Masterplan.
  • Pop-up Exhibitions and Design Code Testing

    Throughout the rest of the Summer, we will be hosting pop-up exhibitions to show the latest plans for Silvertown’s New Hybrid Masterplan. We will also be hosting further Design Code Workshops to test our Design Code framework developed with the community in May.
  • New Hybrid Masterplan Planning Application Submission

    We are anticipating submitting the New Hybrid Masterplan Planning Application by the end of Summer 2022. We will continue to keep you informed about works taking place on site and any effects these works may have on the neighbouring area leading up to and post submission.
