Thanks for attending our recent recent public events

Thanks to everyone who came along to our recent events. It was great to see so many people down at the Millennium Mills for the Open Day and the Good Hotel for our exhibition on the future plans for the Silvertown site. Overall, we had more than 250 people take part over the two days, providing some really useful feedback on our proposals which we have summarised below. For those who were unable to make it to either of our events, all the exhibition materials are now available to view online through the Commonplace platform .

Feedback on our vision for Silvertown

Bringing the Millennium Mills into use, providing shops, cafes and restaurants and building in culture, leisure and community space were the most supported elements of the Phase 1 proposals. We also set out our principles for the Silvertown development, with participants feeling most strongly about ‘Creating a unique place with an identity that is exciting , bold and authentic’ and ‘Creating a local centre which serves the community where people want to call home’.

Feedback on our approach to Mill Place

Overall, our proposals for Mill Place were strongly supported by those who attended, with 94% of people agreeing with our approach. Restoring the Millennium Mills and making the ground floor of the Mills publicly accessible were the two most strongly supported statements regarding our proposals. There was also strong support to provide more local amenities, such as shops as well as food and drink options in the area. When asked about the type of activities that would be supported around Mill Place, the top three responses were; festivals, events on the water and arts and exhibitions.

Feedback on our approach to Silo-D Park

Our proposals for Silo-D Park were also strongly supported with 91% of people agreeing with our overall approach. Respondents were keen to see additional green space, recreation and leisure activities and markets being provided being around Silo-D. In particular, people wanted to see cafes and water activities in the finger dock to help activate the water’s edge around Silo-D.
