3. Do you have any other comments? What else could be done to improve mobility across the area?

Just to say that the new bridge won’t decrease journey time for those in Britannia Village to the other side of Victoria Dock as everyone will have to walk further to reach the new bridge. We really need step free access but I would still use the existing bridge (unless I had the pram or some other reason I couldn’t use the stairs on the existing bridge) to get to Excel or Custom House for example. It would also be really useful to have some more bus routes to places the DLR doesn’t quite reach - for example, it would be so helpful to have the D3 bus extend here so it’s easy to access Trinity Buoy Wharf and to reach Canary Wharf without having to change on DLR and Jubilee Line.

I think modern and sleek design, with darker colours and metals to match the colour of the water would work well, clean lines, natural and neutral materials, no colours or patterns/images which will age straight away. I’d also really welcome planting to be incorporated - we don’t have much greening of public spaces around the dock currently and I think it’s would be a great boost to have plants that look nice year round. It’s really important to limit light pollution too, a balance between being safe (which people feel around the dock here already I think) and still being able to see the stars! And I’d be keen to avoid anything bumpy - it’s really difficult with prams and older people with the old cobbles around the dock. They are an important heritage feature but I wish there was a full section around the dock without cobbles for anyone finding so many bumps difficult.

6. What activities would you like to see on the Jetty?

It’s really important to ensure there isn’t anything that will be really loud or encourage lots of people to be walking back along the dock and residential streets making a noise at night. One of the best features of the area is that it is quiet but that there is a lot of interesting things to see - and that people do enjoy a quiet weekend and quiet evenings here. We’d all like more amenities and are excited by these but we want to avoid loud activities during the day and night. Noise should at the very least follow the same restrictions as London City Airport. It’s also really important to avoid light pollution here too, it’s a joy to actually see stars here so let’s not ruin that.
